Harry Potter embarked for his railway journeys to Hogwarts at King’s Cross, via a magical barrier, so what better place for a shop to serve the wizard’s fans?
The Platform 9¾ shop is designed as a hidden lost property office with floor to ceiling drawers and shelves of abandoned magical objects and artefacts. The treasure trove sells train tickets, wands, broomsticks, robes and more.
The shop includes nooks to explore, a secret balcony and, of course, infinity mirrors to be amazed by before young wizards and witches head to Hogwarts.
Described in Chinese as the ‘Magic Station’, King’s Cross and its Platform 9¾ shop was voted one of the top five places to visit by tourists from China.
“What is interesting … is that this Harry Potter store manages to capture much of the experience that underpinned the boy wizard-themed shop at the Hogwarts film theme park.”
