National Gallery of Canada.
A destination for cultural commerce

Projects
National Gallery Of Canada, Ottowa
A beautiful boutique
Located in Ottowa, Ontario, the museum’s building takes up 46,621 square metres, with 12,400 square metres of space used for exhibiting art.
The museum is one of the largest art museums in North America by exhibition space, with a permanent collection including over 93,000 works from European, American, and Asian, Canadian, and indigenous Canadian artists.
Lumsden was briefed with creating the National Gallery’s Boutique, a museum store to be inspired by the Museum building itself.

The Boutique is not only a great museum store, but also a great store for Ottowa.

Designed to capture the light, showcase the museum store design and become a retail destination, the National Gallery’s Boutique now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and matches any retail operation in Canada’s capital city. It is a game changer for cultural commerce in the region.
